Marangu Route
The "Coca-Cola Route" is the oldest and most established path. It's the only route with sleeping huts instead of tents, making it popular for budget-conscious climbers.

Overview
The Marangu Route, known as the "Coca-Cola Route," is the oldest, most established, and most straightforward path on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the only route that offers sleeping huts with beds and mattresses instead of tents, making it an attractive option for those who prefer more comfortable accommodation or are on a tighter budget. The route approaches from the southeast and follows a gradual, steady ascent through rainforest, moorland, and alpine desert to Kibo Hut, from where the summit attempt begins. The same trail is used for both ascent and descent, which means less scenic variety compared to other routes. The main drawback of the Marangu Route is its shorter duration — the standard 5-day itinerary does not provide sufficient acclimatization time for many climbers, resulting in a lower success rate. We strongly recommend the 6-day version with an extra acclimatization day at Horombo Huts, which significantly improves your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak.
